This is the time that everyone starts to work on their summer body. Whether you are trying to change your lifestyle or are simply trying to look good in a bikini, I have listed some fitness tips to help reach your goals. I am going to try to be original here and not repeat the basics. So here goes nothing.
Swap out bad carbs for healthier ones
I have recently been swapping out spaghetti with spaghetti squash. I love this method of losing weight because you are secretly eating less carbs without all the prep work behind it. Another way to swap out carbs is to swap out white rice for a squash of some sort, or even sweet potato. I like to sometimes swap my rice out with riced cauliflower because it helps to get my vegetables in. I also like eating a ton of vegetables and starches with better digesting carbs because gut health is just as important. So that is my number one fitness tip
Say goodbye to sugar
Obviously this fitness tip is key, but what we don’t realize, is that sometimes there is a ton of sugar in the stuff we consume. Let’s take a Starbucks coffee for example. I love to order vanilla lattes because they are my jam. If you have the Starbucks app, you can order online and see that a vanilla latte has 31 grams of sugar and 33 grams of carbohydrates. That is something to be mindful for. Also some fruit may also contain a bunch of sugar, but I would recommend consuming your favorite fruit after a workout to spike that insulin level up. If you must have sweetener in your life, use stevia, which is sweeter than sugar. I would recommend staying away from honey since it is also high in carbs. Plan out your meals
This fitness tip not only helps you with lowering your grocery bill, but it helps you stay on track. If you’re like me who wants to lose 20 pounds, then planning out meals is a must. I often buy a lot of squash since it is in season to help consume better carbs and because it is cheaper. Planning out your meals will help you in the long run. It might seem tedious at first, but you will get used to it. Also you will be able to bring in lunch, which will help with not spending money going out to eat. Like I said, this fitness tip will help you save money in the long run. I highly recommend this tip.
Plan out your workouts
This fitness tip will help you achieve the results that you are looking for. If you are trying to lose weight, plan out the days and the length of cardio you want to do. Hell, sign up for classes if that’s your thing and your workout will already be planned for you. If you’re trying to gain some muscle, then plan out your work load for the day. Plan out if you’re going to work some shoulders or legs that day and the workouts you plan to do with it. For my muscles building girls, or my girls who want to dabble in lifting some weight, bodybuilding.com has articles on training. They also have workout plans that used to be free but now you have to pay for them. I honestly think that sucks. Anyways, plan out your workout in a notebook and then you can look back to see what worked and what isn’t giving you the results you want.
Stay motivated and dedicated
Okay, I know this has been said quite a few times but this one is going to get your butt motivated to do all the rest of the fitness tips I have listed. First you need to find the motivation for changing your lifestyle or simply just to shed those few pounds. If you’re like me and your clothes no longer fit the same, then you have found your motivation like I did. Once you start to find the push to want to change your routine to add in workouts and meal planning, then you need to have the dedication to continue to keep doing it. Motivation is what gives you the push to start, dedication is what is going to keep you going. One day you will lose that motivation, but you need to push through until you achieved the results you want. Hopefully this fitness tip makes sense. I think it is the most important one to keep mindful of.
